Our mission

Radically extend canine lifespan.

Dogs get about a decade. We’re building the science that gives them more.

Why we exist

A decade is a starting point.

Every dog owner learns the same arithmetic. You get about a decade, a little longer if the dog is small, and then you are sitting on the floor of a vet’s office. We started Tailmates to test that arithmetic properly, in the dogs people actually live with.

Aging science is moving fast. The ideas are here. What it takes now is dogs, days, and honest records.

That is the whole reason the app exists in the shape it does. It is a game, because a game is the only thing anyone keeps doing every single day.

Nobody solves it alone. It takes three things.

  1. 01

    Research

Aging science is moving fast. Rapamycin trials. Longevity drugs arriving in real clinics. We follow the evidence, we track what dogs are actually taking, and we publish what we learn. All of it.

Where this actually stands. Naming a drug describes the field. The recommendation belongs to your veterinarian. Tailmates informs; it never prescribes or sells treatment.

  2. 02

    Tracking

A longevity score you can move. Walks, weight, body condition, bloodwork. The picture builds while you go about your day.

Where this actually stands. This part is built and it is free. The score is educational and non-diagnostic, and it is always shown as a range.

  3. 03

    Participation

Share your dog's data and it joins every other dog's. That is how a decade of anecdotes becomes evidence. It is your call, always, and the app works the same either way.

Where this actually stands. Sharing is opt-in, and the controls are coming to the app. Every switch will start off, and turning one on is your call. Until you do, your dog's data stays yours.

Every walk is a data point. Every dog is part of the answer.

What we promise

Four promises you can hold us to.

  • The method goes out before the result.

The specification is written down and frozen first, so a finding can never be reverse engineered into a story afterwards.

  • The boring reports go out too.

A report where nothing improved is still a report. Anyone can publish when the news is good.

  • We follow the evidence, wherever it leads.

No supplement to sell, no product riding on the result. The answer we want and the answer we find stay independent, on purpose.

  • Your data stays your call.

Sharing controls are coming to the app. When they ship, every switch starts off, turning one on earns you nothing, and the app works the same either way.

How we talk about it

Ambitious mission, honest product

Radically extending canine lifespan is the thing we get up for. It is the company’s work. What the app does today is measure, plainly, and show you the range. We keep those two in separate sentences so the promise always stays true.

The day we have a finding, you will read it with the method attached, all of it. The page that lays out exactly what we can support today is one tap away, and it is the most honest page we have.

  • The company carries the mission. The app delivers today: a score, a tracker, and a record. Life extension is the work, never a claim the app makes about your dog.
  • The app is a game you play with your dog, free and complete on its own. There is nothing to enroll in and nothing to sign.
  • Sharing is a gift, freely given. It earns you no points, no streak protection, and no badge, and that is exactly what keeps the science clean.

One dog is a story. A hundred thousand dogs is an answer.

Thanks for joining our mission.

Free to play. Your dog. Your data. Your call.
